A Few Other Cases of Concern

The NCRJ generally provides fiscal sponsorship for cases that have defense committees. There are, however, a great many dubious convictions that don't have defense committees or funds. In some cases, plea-bargaining has made the cases difficult to appeal. In other cases, the defendants are so poor and friendless that they have been unable to attract committed advocates. In yet others, they have been released on parole, or have completed their sentences, without exoneration. And many cases have been already reversed by the courts.

Here are a few cases where injustice may well have miscarried. We cannot, of course, guarantee the innocence of any person on these lists. Nor should the absence of a case be construed as implying that we believe in the guilt of the accused. In some instances, we may have little or no information. And we have omitted high-profile cases that have not only defense funds but also fiscal sponsors.

None of the cases listed below have been directly investigated by the National Center for Reason and Justice. We list them primarily for educational purposes.
